# Ripple Bank Codes

A Ripple Bank Code (RBC) is a standardized identifier for a financial institution in the Ripple payout network. RBCs follow the format `RPL:[COUNTRY]:[ALIAS]:[CHANNEL]` (for example, `RPL:NG:GTBINGLA:BNK`).

When creating a beneficiary financial instrument for an `NG_BANK_PAYOUT` corridor, the `bankCode` field must be a valid Ripple Bank Code. Use this lookup utility to find the RBC for the destination bank.

For background on how RBCs relate to financial instruments, see [Financial instruments](/products/payments-direct-2/api-docs/concepts/financial-instruments).
