# Crypto wallets

The Crypto wallets page lists the crypto wallets your organization has registered with Ripple, and lets you register more. Registering a wallet tells Ripple which addresses your organization owns.

In Payments Direct, registered wallets are used to pay Ripple in stablecoin, and they are on file as destinations for crypto withdrawals from your Ripple-managed account.

A wallet has to be approved before you can fund your account from it. If your account uses pre-funding, see [Deposit funds](/products/payments-direct-2/user-interface/guides/deposit-funds).

Note
This page is about your own organization's wallets. It is not where you manage the wallet addresses you send payments to. Those are beneficiary details. For more information, see [Beneficiaries](/products/payments-direct-2/user-interface/beneficiaries).

To open the page, select the **Settings** gear icon, then under **Transfers**, select **Crypto wallets**.

## Prerequisites

- Your user must have permission to manage onboarding details for your organization. Without it, the page shows an error in place of the list.
- Your organization must have an approved product that supports wallet registration.


If the **Transfers** section does not appear on the Settings page, contact your organization administrator or your Ripple representative.

## The wallets table

Each registered wallet appears as a row in the table.

| Column  | Description |
|  --- | --- |
| **Wallet Purpose** | What the wallet is registered for. For Payments Direct, this is **Pay Ripple in stablecoin**. |
| **Blockchain** | The network the wallet address belongs to. |
| **Nickname** | The label you gave the wallet when you registered it. |
| **Wallet Address** | The registered address. |
| **Wallet ID** | The identifier Ripple assigned to the wallet. Select the copy icon to copy it. |
| **Status** | The review status of the wallet. See [Wallet statuses](#wallet-statuses). |


Select a row to open a details panel. It repeats the table fields and adds the wallet type, the legal name of the counterparty, the destination tag, and the custody or exchange host name. Fields you left blank are omitted.

## Wallet statuses

Every wallet you add is reviewed by Ripple before it can be used. A wallet starts in **Pending Approval** and moves to one of the other statuses when the review is complete.

| Status  | What it means |
|  --- | --- |
| **Pending Approval** | Ripple has received the wallet and is reviewing it. No action is needed from you. |
| **Approved** | The wallet has passed review. |
| **Denied** | The wallet did not pass review. Check the banner at the top of the page for what to do next. See [If a wallet is denied](#if-a-wallet-is-denied). |


Statuses do not update automatically
The page does not refresh on its own while it is open. To check whether a review has finished, revisit the page or reload it.

## Wallet limits

Your organization can register a limited number of wallets per blockchain. For Payments Direct, the default is ten per blockchain. Your account may be configured with a different limit.

When you reach the limit for a blockchain, the form disables that blockchain and labels it with the limit that applies. When you reach the limit on every available blockchain, the **Add wallet** button is disabled.

## If a wallet is denied

A denied wallet can mean one of two things, and the status chip is the same for both. The banner at the top of the page tells you which applies:

- If the banner asks you to add another wallet and offers an **Add wallet** button, you can register a replacement.
- If the banner asks you to contact the compliance team, do that before taking any further action.


If the **Add wallet** button is unavailable and you believe you are below your limit, contact your Ripple representative.

## Hosted and unhosted wallets

When you register a wallet, you declare how it is held:

- **Hosted**: A digital wallet held by a third party on your behalf, such as a custody partner or an exchange that holds your private keys. Hosted wallets require you to name the custody or exchange host.
- **Unhosted**: A digital wallet you hold and control yourself, where you own the private keys.


## Removing a wallet

To remove a wallet, select the delete icon at the end of its row and confirm. Removing a wallet deactivates the record. It does not affect the wallet itself or any assets in it.

Wallets cannot be edited after they are registered. To correct a detail, remove the wallet and register it again.
