A wallet can receive funds as soon as Ripple Custody (Wallet) provisions it. New wallets are deposit-only: they receive funds but can't send them until you unlock outgoing transactions.

Find your wallet's receive address via the console

To receive assets, send them to the wallet's address.

  1. Open the wallet. The wallet address appears at the top of the wallet page, and in Settings > General under Wallet Address.
  2. Copy the wallet address.
  3. Send funds to that address from an exchange, another wallet, or any external source.
  4. Wait for on-chain confirmation. The balance appears on the wallet's asset list once the transaction confirms on the blockchain.

Through the API, the wallet's address appears in the wallet response once its status is PROVISIONED. See Manage wallets via the API.

How incoming transactions appear

Ripple Custody (Wallet) detects incoming transfers through blockchain monitoring and records each one as a transaction in the wallet's Transactions tab and in Transactions in the main menu. See View transactions in the console, or list them through the API with Track transactions via the API.

Until Ripple Custody (Wallet) releases an incoming amount to the available balance or freezes it, the amount counts toward the wallet's pending balance. See Understanding balances.

Contract-token deposits

When Ripple Custody (Wallet) records an incoming contract-token transfer detected through blockchain monitoring, the top-level destination holds your recipient wallet address, the top-level qty holds the transferred token quantity, and the top-level asset holds the token.

Outgoing contract-token transfers work differently — see Reading contract-token transfer fields.

Deposits from more than one sender

A single blockchain transaction can send the same asset to one of your wallets from several addresses, for example an exchange batch payout. Ripple Custody (Wallet) records this as one deposit transaction, with the combined quantity in the top-level qty.

The top-level origin (and the deprecated originAddress) holds only one sender: the first contributing sender in the blockchain transaction. To find every sender, read confirmedAssetChanges:

  1. Keep entries with purpose: TRANSFER whose asset matches the transaction asset and whose destination is your receiving wallet.
  2. Skip entries with purpose: FEE.
  3. Read source.address from each remaining entry. The same address can appear more than once.

In the console, the wallet's transaction list shows the number of senders for these deposits, for example 3 available senders, and the transaction details list each sender address.

Older deposits

For deposits confirmed before this change, the sender list shows only the sender data that Ripple Custody (Wallet) already recorded, and the order of senders isn't guaranteed. The console count and list describe the senders available in the record, which might not be every sender in the blockchain transaction.

Frozen deposits

A deposit can arrive frozen, or you can freeze it after it arrives. Frozen funds stay in the wallet but move from the available balance to the frozen balance. Users can't spend, transfer, or include frozen funds in outgoing transactions until you unfreeze them.
