Identity management

The identity management feature allows you to add or delete payment originators and beneficiaries using the Ripple Payments UI.

Add identity

  1. To add an identity, in the Ripple Payments UI , click Settings > Manage Identities > Add Identity .
  2. Select whether the identity you want to create is for a Business or Person (Individual).
  3. In the Identity Type field, select whether the identity is an Originator or Beneficiary .
    Select Originator only if you'll make transactions on behalf of another business.
  4. From the Destination Country dropdown list, select the country where your beneficiary will receive the payment.

    United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland only:
    In the Payout Currency field, select either EUR or GBP from the drop-down list. All other countries currently support only one payout currency, hence, the payout currency is pre-selected in those cases.

  5. Only if you selected identity type "Beneficiary":
    Select the payout category .
    Bank account is currently the only supported payout category .
  6. Click Next .
  7. Fill in all fields related to identity details and then click Next .
    Note:
    • For identity type Originator, provide the information of the business on whose behalf you're making the transaction.
    • When you specify the beneficiary name, make sure that it exactly matches the legal name that's registered with their bank. For example, if the beneficiary's name is registered with their bank as Dì nà in Pinyin (Chinese Phonetic Alphabet) characters, specifying Tina (in English) in the beneficiary identity field will cause the payment to fail during payout. In this example, you must specify the beneficiary name as Di na , without special characters ( ì becomes i and à becomes a ), so that it matches their legal name as registered with their bank.
    • Make sure that the information you provide is accurate. Once the new identity is created, you can no longer edit any of the details.
  8. Fill in all fields related to bank information or other information .
    Note:
    • A beneficiary identity can only be associated with one payout method.
    • Make sure that the information you provide is accurate. Once the new identity is created, you can no longer edit any of the details. Instead, you'll have to delete the identity and create a new one with the correct information.
  9. Click Finish .
    Your identity is created.
  10. To confirm that the new identity is available for selection when you create a new payment, view the list of identities by clicking Settings > Manage Identities .

Delete identity

To delete an identity:

  1. Click Settings > Manage Identities .
  2. Locate the beneficiary you want to delete and next to its entry, click Delete .
  3. In the Delete Identity window, confirm that you want to delete the identity by clicking Confirm .

Your identity is now deleted from your identities list and will no longer be available for selection when you create a new payment.
