## Generate API credentials

Before using the Ripple Mint API, you must generate API credentials through the Ripple Mint UI using an Admin user account.

To generate API credentials:

1. Log in to Ripple Mint UI as an Admin user.
2. Select the **Settings** gear icon in the top-right corner of the page.
3. Under **Integration**, select **API credentials**.
4. In the dropdown next to the page title, select either **UAT** for the user acceptance testing (sandbox) environment, or **Production**.
5. In the upper right corner, select **New Credential**.
6. Select **Save and Generate Key**.
7. Copy the **Client ID** and **Client Secret** and store them securely.

Caution
The client secret is displayed only once at creation time. Copy and store it securely — it cannot be retrieved after you leave the page.

Note
A maximum of three API credentials can be created per account.

Note
A separate UAT (sandbox) environment is available for integration testing. To generate UAT credentials, follow the same steps above but select **UAT** instead of **Production** in the environment dropdown (step 4). See [UAT (Sandbox) Environment](/pt-br/products/stablecoin/api/uat) for the differences from Production.

Find your audience value
The **API credentials** page also displays the **Audience** for your account, which you need when requesting an access token. For the Production environment, the audience has the form `urn:ripplexcurrent-prod:<your_tenant_id>`. Copy this value along with your Client ID and Client Secret. For more information, see [Authentication](/pt-br/products/stablecoin/api/authentication).

Once you have generated the API credentials, you can now obtain access tokens to use when calling Ripple Mint API operations. See [Authentication](/pt-br/products/stablecoin/api/authentication).
