Processing guidance
- For cross-border trade payments exceeding INR 1,500,000, the transaction must move outside automated channels into formal bank-to-bank wire transfers with full documentation. This limit is set by the Rupee Drawing Arrangement (RDA), which caps trade-related remittances at INR 1,500,000 per transaction.
- Trade transactions to **HDFC Bank** up to INR 1,500,000 are not processed automatically.
The bank will contact the beneficiary for remittance details and supporting trade documents.
If the required documents are not submitted within **21 days**, the transaction will be rejected without a refund.
- The **daily compliance limit** is **INR 4,000,000 per beneficiary**. Transactions that would cause a sender or receiver to exceed this limit are held for review. An RFI will be raised, and the requested documentation must be provided for the payment to be processed.
- A **Foreign Inward Remittance Certificate (FIRC)** may be required if the beneficiary bank requests it.

Non-Trade Transactions
Non-Trade transactions apply to **B2B, B2C, and C2B** use cases.

- **Invoice number not required.** However, if an invoice number is included, ensure it is correct, as it may trigger an RFI.
- **Maximum transaction amount:** INR 1,500,000 per payment
- **Daily compliance limit:** INR 4,000,000 per beneficiary. Payments that would cause this limit to be exceeded undergo an RFI process and may be rejected or processed based on the outcome.

## Compliance and Operational Notes

- The **daily compliance limit** is **INR 4,000,000 per beneficiary**. Transactions that would cause this limit to be exceeded are held for review and may require an RFI.
- Supporting documentation may be required for regulatory review.
- All payouts must include an appropriate **purpose code** as defined by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
- Ripple and its partners automatically apply transaction classification and validation rules during processing.

Best practice
Use accurate, descriptive purpose codes to prevent delays and avoid beneficiary follow-up from Indian partner banks.
For repeated trade invoices, ensure invoice numbers are unique per transaction.
