# Payment rail reference

## `paymentRail`

The `paymentRail` field is an optional filter on quote requests. When provided, quotes are returned only for the specified payout rail. When omitted, quotes are returned for all supported payout rails in the requested corridor.

Not for use with financial instruments
The values on this page are **quote filter parameters only**. They are not financial instrument type identifiers.

If you are using **Identity Management v3**, financial instruments use a separate set of type values — such as `US_ACH`, `EU_SEPA`, `MX_SPEI`, and `BR_PIX` — which are defined in [Financial instruments](/products/payments-direct-2/api-docs/concepts/financial-instruments).
