# Connect AI assistants to the documentation

Connecting an AI assistant to the Ripple Docs [MCP](https://modelcontextprotocol.io)
server lets it search this documentation and read current pages — API reference,
payload examples, and release-specific behavior — before it answers. The server
covers all products on `docs.ripple.com`, including Ripple Custody,
and requires no authentication:

## Cursor

Open the command palette (**Cmd+Shift+P**, or **Ctrl+Shift+P** on Windows and
Linux), select **Open MCP settings**, then **Add custom MCP**, and add the
server to `mcp.json`:

## Other clients

Most MCP clients accept the same URL — consult your tool's documentation for how
to register a remote MCP server over HTTP. If the client offers a choice, add the
server as a plain HTTP MCP server rather than as an authorized connector.

## Troubleshooting

**Your client asks you to sign in.** The server needs no credentials, so dismiss
the prompt. Clients that require an OAuth sign-in before they list tools,
including claude.ai custom connectors, cannot connect at all — use Claude Code,
Cursor, or VS Code instead.

**Your client lists only `authenticate` and `complete_authentication`.** Those
belong to the client's own authorization layer, not to this server. A working
connection exposes `search`, `list-apis`, `get-endpoints`, `get-endpoint-info`,
`get-security-schemes`, and `get-full-api-description`.

**Check the server directly.** This returns `"name": "Ripple Docs MCP server"`
without credentials. Both `Accept` types are required; without them the server
responds `406 Not Acceptable`.

Both integrations are read-only views of the public documentation. They do not
provide access to your Ripple Custody instance, accounts, or any
customer data, and you cannot execute API operations through them.
