Ripple Custody 1.19 (Apr 18, 2025)

Version 1.19 is a long-term support (LTS) release for both SaaS and on-premise deployments, and introduces the following new features:

Solana is a decentralized public blockchain featuring a native smart contracts platform based on a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism. For more information, see the Solana website.

Version 1.19 of Ripple Custody adds integration of Solana tokens to the existing support for the native SOL cryptocurrency. We are also adding support for cold-wallet transfers of native cryptocurrency, and tokens.

This new version also supports Solana's durable nonces for reliable, offline transaction signing, ensuring flexibility in high-throughput environments.

Check with your CPE for any pre-requisites such as changes to existing indexers.

Stellar is a decentralized open-source blockchain platform based on a proof-of-agreement consensus mechanism known as the Stellar Consensus Protocol (SCP). For more information, see the Stellar website.

Version 1.19 of Ripple Custody adds integration of Stellar tokens to the existing support for the native Lumens (XLM) cryptocurrency.

Check with your CPE for any pre-requisites such as changes to existing indexers.

Ripple Custody now supports dynamically adding new blockchain ledgers to the trusted entities list using the new v0_CreateLedger intent. This eliminates the need for hard-coded ledger information, which previously required a new version release. Please note that indexer configurations are still required to finalize the addition. The Ripple Custody beta UI now supports the Events Distribution service, designed to deliver custody events through multiple channels.

Version 1.19 introduces the first delivery method, webhooks, featuring a minimal payload. Future updates will expand to include other delivery methods, such as email notifications, and will provide richer information in the payloads based on the underlying event types.

With the Events Distribution service's support for webhooks you can:

• Register webhook endpoints to receive event notifications.
• Choose the specific event types you want to subscribe to.
• Automatically send Ripple Custody event payloads to your webhooks for seamless processing by your internal systems.
• Monitor and manage your configured event distribution channels via a user-friendly dashboard.

The beta compliance service now offers support of Chainalysis, a blockchain investigation, risk management, and compliance platform that helps you meet regulatory standards and mitigate risks associated with digital assets.

The beta Ripple Custody integration with Chainalysis allows transaction screening to assess risk and make informed, policy-driven decisions on transaction approval or rejection. This feature is currently available for new instances only.

Risk mitigation and compliance management includes:

• Configurable risk scores:
  • Automate decisions such as approval, rejection, or review based on predefined thresholds.
• Transaction screening:
  • Outgoing transactions: Proactively screens destination addresses and automatically enforces policies for streamlined transaction management.
  • Incoming transactions: Screens incoming deposits, automatically releasing low-risk transactions to minimize operational delays and enhance user experience.
• Policy-driven compliance automation:
  • Leverage the Ripple Custody policy engine to apply flexible, rule-based actions tailored to your institution’s compliance framework.
• Transactions insights:
  • Access a detailed overview of transaction statuses, compliance analysis results, risk levels, and decisions, all within Ripple Custody.

In the Ripple Custody UI, we introduce the new Status filter that lets you filter out validated assets from unvalidated assets.

Under Assets > Filters, there is now a new Status drop-down menu, with three filters: All, Not validated, and Validated.

Version 1.19 introduces a number of improvements to the simplified Ripple Custody UI introduced as a beta release in Version 1.16.

In the Beta UI, you can now:

• Release quarantined transfers

  1. Go to Accounts.
  2. Select an account for which you want to display and release quarantined transfers.
  3. Go to the Transactions tab.
  4. Select Release quarantined transfers.

• Create transfer orders

  1. Go to Accounts.
  2. Select an account for which you want to create a transfer order.
  3. Select Create transfer order.
  4. Select the Source account and Destination account and enter the Amount (and currency).
  5. Under Fees select the Fee priority and the Custody UI will calculate the fees.
  6. Select Submit for approval.

• Lock/Unlock accounts

  1. Go to Accounts.
  2. In the Actions column, select the Lock or Unlock icon next to the account you want to lock or unlock.

• Add a new ledger to an account

  1. Go to Accounts.
  2. Select the account to which you want to add a new ledger.
  3. Select the drop-down menu (next to the Create transfer order button), and then Add ledgers.
  4. Select the ledgers you want to add to the account.
  5. Select Submit for approval.

• Create a new domain

  1. Go to System admin and select the Domains tab.
  2. Select New domain.
  3. Enter the domain information for the new domain — the Domain name and optional description, the type of Governing strategy (whether the domain should ignore or consider the policies of its subdomains), any Custom properties.
  4. Under Initial policy designate one or more roles (such as the admin or compliance-manager roles) that will have admin rights in the default policy.
  5. Under User management, select one or more users that you want to associate with the domain. The users will have their original roles pre-assigned to them.
  6. Choose the initial Lock status for the domain.
  7. Select Submit.

• Edit or Lock/Unlock domains

  1. Go to System admin and select the Domains tab.
  2. Select the domain you want to edit.
  3. To lock (or unlock) the domain, select Lock or Unlock, respectively.
  4. To edit the domain details, select Edit information. The details are the same as when creating a new domain.

• Create/Invite/Edit Lock/Unlock users

  1. Go to System admin and select the Users tab.
  2. To create a new user, select New user.
  3. To lock (or unlock) a user, select the user and then Lock or Unlock, respectively.
  4. To edit the information for a user, select the user and then Edit.

• Lock/unlock assets

  1. Go to Custody admin.
  2. In the Actions column, select the Lock or Unlock icon next to the asset you want to lock or unlock.

Ripple Custody Version 1.19 and mobile app version 5.11.3 introduces new security enhancements for the mobile app.

Using the public notary API key associated with your system, the mobile app can detect whether the transaction details have been tampered with. If the app detects a change to the transaction details, it displays a prominent security alert notifying you of potential manipulation, allowing you to reject the transaction. This feature strengthens protection against unauthorized changes without adding complexity to your experience.

Version 1.19 will be available for on-premise customers to download and install starting on April 18, 2025. You can pull the containers from Ripple’s repository using the 1.19.0 tag. On-premise Version 1.19 also includes all the cumulative updates from STS (SaaS) Versions 1.16, 1.17, and 1.18.

As with all new long-term support (LTS) releases, this version triggers the deprecation of the previous LTS version (v1.15.x), which will continue to be supported for 6 months following this release, unless specified otherwise in the master contract with Ripple. Ripple Custody Version 1.19 will be progressively deployed across SaaS environments starting on May 5, 2025 with production environments scheduled for deployment on May 19, 2025. This may be delayed, based on customer feedback.
