# Transactions

Blockchain transactions are requests to transfer digital assets or perform an operation on a ledger, such as transfer of cryptocurrency or execution of a smart contract.

Accounting transactions you can perform in Ripple Custody can broadly be categorized as follows:

- Native currency transfer transactions
- Token transfer transactions
- Smart contract transactions
- Staking operations
