# Supported key management systems (KMS)

Ripple Custody's secure components need to use a cryptographic key-management system (KMS) backend to satisfy the system's security requirements and to enable the creation of blockchain accounts and transactions.

These pages describe the implementation of the following HSM KMSs:

- IBM hardware security module — IBM HSM
- AWS Cloud hardware security module — AWS CloudHSM
- Thales on-premise hardware security module — Thales Luna HSM


Multi-party computing (MPC) key management systems are currently only supported for selected customers. Contact your Ripple liaison for more information.
